Rockstar Expedites Completion of GTA 6, Disappoints Employees with New Decision

With only about a year left until the deadline for GTA 6's release, Rockstar is seizing the opportunity to expedite the product's completion. Therefore, the company has decided to end the remote work style of employees involved in developing GTA 6, which has been in place since the pandemic era.

Bloomberg revealed a letter from Rockstar's publishing head, Jenn Kolbe, to employees. The letter urges staff participating in the GTA 6 project to return to the office starting from this April to ensure 'productivity' and 'security' for the game.

Jenn Kolbe emphasizes in the letter that Rockstar has determined that working in the office will be more advantageous for concentrating on completing the product and providing the next roadmap for GTA 6. This will ensure the product is meticulously cared for and perfected.

Regarding security, it's needless to say much as GTA 6 has suffered a lot from information leaks. Rockstar states that the information theft that led to the early exposure of the game caused them a loss of $5 million and thousands of hours of work for employees. The culprit was later sentenced to prison. Most recently, the first GTA 6 trailer video also leaked one day earlier than the scheduled game announcement.

After years of development, GTA 6 is only a short time away from the release milestone, set for 2025. This is when they need focused manpower and active work, possibly even overtime. Hence, employees being dispersed due to remote work will significantly impact the 'deadline sprint' process. Of course, employees are not very pleased with this announcement because they have to give up the freedom of remote work to return to the traditional office 'time clock and attendance' process, not to mention the need for overtime to meet the release deadline.
